NoteBook User Profile – Musician and Author
1. What is your name and occupation?
My name is Mike McLaren and I’m a blues musician and author.
2. Please describe a typical day at work.
I kill some time during the day selling guitars and banjos, and I use NoteBook to write orders, which I then save as PDFs and e-mail to my vendors. I keep my journal Notebook open behind my work Notebook to facilitate any good thoughts that might occur that I do not want to lose. If I’m not gigging, I’m writing. I also have individual Notebooks devoted to my music (songwriting), novel, poetry.
3. How has NoteBook helped you achieve your goals?
NoteBook helps to keep my business, music and writing lives more organized.
4. What are your favorite NoteBook features?
I appreciate the tabs and Divider pages, the aesthetic, the Multidex, inline notes and Stickies, and the clipping features. I like to choose my own backgrounds for my Divider pages, and I appreciate the Writing pages, and the Cornell pages. For the Writing pages, I use primarily the parchment background, and for Cornell pages I use the lab and engineering backgrounds. For pages with shapes, I use the quadrille background, and for character sketches and songwriting I use the steno background. The various backgrounds help me to keep a particular form of writing more organized.
5. Do you use NoteBook with any other apps?
I don’t use NoteBook “with” anything, but I do use it alongside apps like Freemind, Dictionary, Reader Library, Safari, and Songsheet Generator.
6. Do you use NoteBook with any other apps?
NoteBook replaced Storymill and Copywrite for me.
7. How would you describe NoteBook in one sentence?
NoteBook holds as much importance to my writing projects as the Moleskine that rides in my back pocket.
