“How Do I Link a File into a Notebook?”   Press the Option key while dragging to get the link cursor.  When you release the mouse, NoteBook will create an Alias to the original file, which means that it will track it wherever you move the original file on your computer.  You can make linking your default drag-and-drop action in NoteBook preferences.
